Minutes of the Meeting:

1) The National Chair initiated the session by welcoming all participants especially DGN Salman Mubarak who attended his first meeting and discussed the last review meeting minutes and approved.

2) PDG Iftikhar Ahmed opened the meeting with Tilawat 

3)Trustee Aziz Memon welcomed DRR E Awais Saqi. He said a virtual Polio Orientation workshop for newly elected Rotaract presidents (3271) will be organized on 28 June 2021. He added the workshop will also be attended by WHO and UNICEF representatives. He added that a Polio Orientation workshop for Rotary clubs is scheduled on 17^th July at the Avari Hotel Lahore.

He spoke of the work on the eradication of polio during Covid-19 and said the global grant projects have been increased to fight against polio and Covid 19 simultaneously.

The good news was that no environmental samples were tested positive for the polio virus in polio high risk areas in the last month. To control transmission of the virus completely we must continue to monitor all high risk areas. The only case of the year is from Killa Abdullah Balochistan. We are near the finish line but have to be more vigilant.

As far as vaccine derived cases are concerned, they are mostly prevalent in African countries. In Pakistan they have been controlled .  Nova vaccine will be given in areas where still vaccine derived cases exist, once WHO approves roll out Nova vaccine in Pakistan. DGND Salman wanted to know more about derived cases. A mail with details has been sent to him today.

Trustee Aziz Memon gave details of the Polio Oversight Board's (POB) visit to Pakistan. He said the POB met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and all provincial heads in all provinces except Quetta Balochistan due to non-availability of flights. He said revised NEAP is followed in all provinces. He also gave details of his visit to Killa Abdullah. He said the district has a very low population but it’s a gateway to Pakistan and almost 10,000 Afghanis enter Pakistan from Chaman border in Killa Abdullah on a daily basis.

He pointed out that more Global Grants have been given during the last year due to the pandemic situation. He emphasized contacting targeted communities/organizations for concrete write up of community assessment for Global Grants. He said as per new policy Rotractors may initiate Global Grant projects in collaboration with their respective Rotary Clubs.

Asher Ali gave a brief on polio and Covid 19 activities done by the Rotary clubs and the projects. He gave details of PNPPC partnership with Coca-Cola Pakistan for future water filtration plants for Punjab and KP. He gave follow up of all solar water filtration plants installed in District 3272. He said all are functional.

DGN Adnan S. Rohaila said there must be some strategy for sustainability of the plants. He answered that the PolioPlus Program has a prompt strategy to make the water projects sustainable and the project must set an example for sustainability. Draft MOU will be shared with DGN to show community involvement.

Assessment of PTPs shelters were also discussed. Trustee Aziz Memon gave details of NEOC involvement to design a robust strategy for proper monitoring and visibility of PTP shelters at all points in the country.

All Resource Centers have been visited during the last quarter for monitoring their activities.

A virtual Polio Orientation workshop for Rotaractors for RD 3272 is planned for 30th June 2021. He requested all Rotary Leaders to encourage Rotarctors to attend the meeting.
