Discussion on solar water filtration plants:
The National Chair mentioned that the solar water filtration plant funded by District Governor Dr. Farhan Essa, will be installed at the Police Headquarters Hospital in Karachi on his request. The clean water from the plant will be available to the adjoining communities as well.
DG Dr. Farhan Essa also said in view of lack of medical facility for the police personal, he is establishing a 60 bedded hospital with the help of Rotary. He said it will increase the image of Rotary and morale of police personnel.
Discussion on Covid-19
Chair Aziz Memon also spoke about the 4 new ventilators to MMI hospital and 6 ventilators to Indus Hospital in Karachi with the help of Global Grant
A Global Grant of US$85,000 is in process for the COVID-19 protection equipment which will be distributed in hospitals of Sindh and Balochistan.
DGN Tehzeeb Kazmi is working on it.
Rotary/Alfalah Bank Collaboration
Bank Alfalah provided PKR 1 million to PolioPlus Committee to install 10 state of the art portable hand washing stations with a capacity of 50 gallons of water per day. This is a pilot project and we will install these stations in 10 of the most visited hospitals. Once the project is completed, we take it to a larger scale to install small water stations in the rural areas of Sindh. We are working on the financial aspects.
New Polio Case in Sindh
One new WPV1 case emerged from Larkana. The National Chair urged PDG Saleem Rao to be more vigilant in Northern Sindh and stressed to establish Rotary Clubs in Larkana, Jocobabad, and Shikarpur. DG Dr. Farhan Essa said, the paperwork for new clubs of Larkana, Jocobabad are ready and AG Afzal Khoso is the focal person for the two clubs and he will identify the adjoining critical districts of Balochistan.
National Chair also discussed that Sukkur is the third-largest city in Sindh, but it still has only one club. There is a need to increase the number of clubs in Sukkur. DG Dr. Farhan Essa promised to make more Rotary Clubs in Sukkur and he will soon be visiting Sukkur in a couple of days.
National Chair advised that PP Dr. Pardeep Harchandani and PDG Saleem Rao should join DG Dr. Farhan Essa on his visit to Sukkur.
Agenda Points
On review of Resource Centers are in process and the solar water Filtration Plants sites in Karachi will be conducted during the quarter. It was also mentioned by the National Chair that the New Team Support Centers at Baldia Town, Songal Gadap UC 5, Muslimabad and Muzzafarabad - Landhi are functional.

Spoke on restarting type 2 vaccination; all partners are working together and Rotarians are very helpful. We appreciate the support of Rotary by conducting Ulema Workshop, Community Meetings; Solar Water Filtration Plants in high-risk areas are very helpful to create community credibility. He shared a brief slide on the district wise current polio status in Sindh. (Presentation attached).
He mentioned that the polio program will start with full precautions and following all SOPs and we will deliver soaps to households during the campaign. He requested that we need a more active presence of Rotarians in their respective areas.
Other points of discussion by Rotarians
PP Muhammad Ovais suggested washable face masks to be purchased from the global grant. He will share the details of the vendor with DGN Tehzeeb Kazmi. National Chair also showed a reusable mask and said, our office has a reliable vendor available.
PP Masood Bhalli asked about the detail of WPV cases. National Chair replied that there are WPV1 58, cVCPDV2 50 and in Afghanistan WPV1 29.
PP Pardeep said we must do something for Hyderabad as well as positive environmental samples have been in Hyderabad. National Chair asked Dr. Pardeep to take action with the current situation and Dr. Pardeep said, ‘I am in touch with the new DHO of Hyderabad who fully supports the cause.’
PDG Irfan Qureshi Ulema said Fatwas are very important and we must put together for distribution. National Chair said ‘we already have Fatwa Books which include all the Fatwas of Ulemas in the book of Fatwas by Ulemas’.
National Chair Aziz Memon introduced PP Muhammad Ovais as the new Ulema Committee Coordinator. He mentioned that PP Abul Qadir Molvi had migrated to the United States, and we need a replacement. PP Ovais said he is ‘extremely honored to get this position and he will do his level best to support this cause.’
Asher Ali Project Manager informed that PNPCC is holding an Ulema Workshop on 18th July, 2020 at DC West Office and requested all the participants to attend the workshop following the SOPs.
DGN Tehzeeb Kazmi mentioned that 400 PPE Kits, N95 masks, gloves, thermometer, sanitizer machine and nebulizer machine are included in the list. He informed that COVID-19 materials were distributed among DHO of the concerned hospitals. N95 masks were also distributed in hospitals of Naushero Feroz. PDG Irfan Qureshi said, feedback from the recipients must be taken and made into a small video to send our funding partners. It would give a sense of satisfaction, that the right people have received these things.
