December 31, 2020A virtual follow up meeting with Rotaractors – RID 3271 was held on Saturday, 19th December 2020 at 11 am. Around 40 Rotaractors attended the meeting. Meeting initiated by Tilawat from Quran Verses by Mallick Shariq from Rotaract Club of Karachi Kolachi. DRR Iqra Sajjad • Thanked all participants and National Chair for providing plat form to discuss the progress of Rotaractors District 3271 • She discussed all the activities carried out on marking World Polio Day through organizing different polio awareness activities • She said they have covered numbers of refusals from different slum areas of Karachi. • A health camp at Orangi Town is also scheduled for 27th of December DRC Raza Tabish • He highlighted the advocacy role of Rotaractors • He shared that they have visited a number of schools for polio awareness sessions, as nowadays schools are closed due to COVID 19 they have planned door to door polio awareness sessions • He emphasized on focusing the goal of polio eradication in all their activities PDG Irfan Qureshi • He said that social media plays a vital role. The polio eradication program image should be more positive via social media. Campaign should be initiated to improve the image of polio programs. • He stressed out the immediate removal of negative image of polio programs at micro and macro levels. Trustee/National Chair Aziz Memon: • National Chair introduced Muhammad Haneef from Rotary Club Multan who is looking after Southern Punjab. • National Chair appreciated Muhammad Haneef for an active dedicated and committed member of PNPPC • National Chair also thanked and appreciated Dr. Pardeep Kumar for his efforts on polio eradication • National Chair spoke about his YouTube documentary/presentation link which has been shared with DRR and DRC Suggestions • It was suggested that on a monthly basis interactive sessions with Rotaractors should be scheduled. Action: DRC/DRR • National Chair requested DRR to include Rotaractors from Balochistan in the next meeting as the last three polio cases were from Balochistan Action: DRR • He also said that we should include Polio Ulema Committee Chair Haji Hanif Tayyab for the next meeting – Action: PP Muhammad Ovais – Ulema Coordinator • He also added that Rotaractors from Balochistan should be taken into loop and they should participate in polio awareness sessions. • He emphasized on taking safety measures against COVID 19 and to wear masks, strictly follow the SOP’s for COVID-19. • Role of Rotaractors for COVID-19 vaccination, once the government announces the rollout of the vaccine. • National Chair invited the participants for the upcoming Inauguration ceremony of Solar Filtration Plant on 24th December at Gadap. National Chair recalled the sad incident which took place in Bannu where a polio assistant sub-Inspector was gunned down by unknown motorcyclists while guarding polio vaccinators. Irfan Qureshi added that we truly appreciate the polio frontline workers for their sacrifices. National Chair appreciated the presence of Dr. Altaf Bosan of NEOC in the meeting and also thanked his worthy role in polio eradication program. Points by Rotaractors: Midhat Jamal - RACK Essa Creek • She highlighted the contribution of their club in covering refusals. • She said they have visited numbers of school and educate children through storytelling. • She also discussed that they have planned 21 activities in upcoming days/month. Mallick Sharique- RACK Kolachi • He said that they have covered interior Sindh and Balochistan areas. • They ensured door to door access to local children through visits • Involved local children to convey the message for polio • Involved Qari’sb from local mosque to get influence and acceptance against polio refusals. • Polio awareness message through dramas & plays Jatendar Dharani – RAC Hyderabad Galaxy: • He said they have conducted awareness sessions in schools • Create polio awareness for the general public Murtaza Ali RACK Kolachi: • He shared concerns about Gadap Town as it is a polio high-risk area. National Chair said we are already working in this area; we already have two resource centers and five team support centers in the Gadap area. • We are conducting an Ulema workshop on a regular basis to involve local Ulema/Khateeb to disseminate polio messages and increase the credibility of polio teams in high-risk areas. Maryam Inayat: • She said that mobilization stuff was distributed among children for awareness purposes. • She has planned to visit hospitals and school children to eradicate polio. Vote of Thanks: • Raza Tabish highly appreciated the role of National Chair for his encouragement and taking on board with the Rotaractors on a single platform • Special thanks to DRR Iqra Sajjad, Irfan Qureshi and all Rotaractors who took out time and participated for the meeting.
